In almost all cases the IC trains have a restaurant car. In all the other train lines there are smoking and non-smoking cars.

Developments
Further future changes for the creation of a modern network in the near future entail:

  • The introduction of faster trains (100 mph) on the Budapest-Hegyeshalom track.
  • The extension of modern InterCity services for passengers.
  • The modernization of suburban trains operating on regional lines. This will be affected by the introduction of the InterPici services on many of the regional lines.
  • For the modernization of the information and ticketing system there will be the gradual introduction of both a price system that can compete internationally and an up-to-date rate reduction for the domestic market.
